Top Secret Alfredo Sauce

I’m not usually a secret sharer.

But let’s face it: some secrets are too good to keep to yourself.

from famouspeople

This is one such secret.

Are you ready?

It’s….my homemade, super delicious, not so healthy (but dairy is a food group, right?), smack-your-lips alfredo sauce.

from meguk365

Here’s what’s in it:

  • 1 stick of butter
  • 1 8 oz package of cream cheese, softened
  • 1 pint of heavy cream
  • 1 block of parmesan cheese, grated
  • garlic
  • broccoli (for health, of course)
  • spices

First, melt the butter in a medium pot.

butter

Then add some of the heavy cream.

with heavy cream

Now add some of the cream cheese.

cream cheesy

Keep stirring it and adding cream cheese and heavy cream until it’s all added. Stir until it’s all melted and combined.

Add garlic. I like garlic, and this sauce is rich, so you need to add a little more than you think you do.

garlic

I also added some broccoli at this point to ease my conscience a little.

green stuff

Add spices to taste. I used basil, thyme, oregano, and parsley. Again–add a little more than you think is wise. It’ll end up being mellower than you think it will be.

spices

Gradually add the cheese, reserving a little to sprinkle on the top at the end. Simmer, stirring until the cheese is melted into the sauce.

the best part

Once everything is incorporated, melted, and hot, spoon over cooked pasta. Sprinkle with remaining cheese. Die a little inside.

heaven

suck it, martha.
