Elvis’ Peanut Butter & Banana Sandwiches

There are a few things that are classic Elvis.

His crooked smile.

All those movies he did.

Paradise Hawaiian Style

But the very most classically Elvis thing is–

–you got it–

The Peanut Butter and Banana Sandwich.

Peanut Butter & Banana Sandwiches

First, get 2 bananas.

bananas

Put them in a bowl,

in a bowl

And mash them up.

mashed

Then mix them with a cup of peanut butter.

mixed

Schmear it all over 3 pieces of white bread.

schmeared

Top each open faced sandwich with another slice of good ol’ white bread.

ready to fry

Then take half a stick of butter–you read that right, half a stick– and put it in a skillet.

butter

in a skillet

all melty

When it melts, lay the sandwiches in the skillet.

Maybe rub them around a little bit so they soak up all that butter.

I’d hate for you to miss out on any of that butter.

ready to flip

When that side of the bread is golden, remove the sandwiches, plop another half-stick of butter into the skillet, and fry the other side.

Holy cats, it’s amazing Elvis lived as long as he did.

When that side is toasty golden, remove and eat.

Lunch

I put extra fruit on the side just to make up for what was about to happen to our bodies.

Verdict: Use less butter.

suck it, martha.
